BlockBeats News, January 31, Binance founder CZ spoke in response to recent market FUD during an AMA, stating:
「『Astroturfing』 has become a very mature industry, usually funded by competitors, and many industries use this tactic. Then someone is paid to spread false information, set the tone, or spread FUD.
It's actually very easy to distinguish who are astroturfers or attackers. These accounts are usually ones you have never really interacted with, ones you don't know at all, generally small accounts with very few followers, or brand new accounts, and so on.
Some people have lost money, such as during the event on October 10, or just in the past few months, and they want to find someone to blame. I think this group accounts for a small proportion, but their voices are particularly loud. If you are not responsible for your own actions, your own trades, and only blame others, it is very difficult for you to succeed in trading. You are the one who pressed the buy button, pressed the sell button. You need to take responsibility for your own actions. The button is there, but it doesn't mean you have to press it; what others say doesn't mean you have to follow. As far as I know, I have never told anyone to buy a certain coin, nor have I told anyone to sell a certain coin. So, if someone shifts the blame to me, to Binance, or to anyone other than themselves, they really need to reflect on themselves.
There are also some people who did not lose money around October 10 but still want to pressure me or Binance, asking us to compensate them, or forcing us to buy more Bitcoin, and so on. There are such people, I don't know how many exactly, but there are indeed some.」
