Senate Democrats Vow to Block Homeland Security Funding, Reviving Government Shutdown Risk

BlockBeats News, January 25th, According to The Wall Street Journal, Democratic senators said on Saturday that they would rather see much of the government shut down than vote for a spending measure that includes money for immigration enforcement.

Earlier, a deadly shooting occurred once again in Minneapolis. Senate Minority Leader and New York Democrat Chuck Schumer said in a statement, "The events in Minnesota are horrifying — they are unacceptable anywhere in America." He said that Senate Democrats would not provide the votes needed for the Republican-driven funding measure for federal agencies if funding for the Department of Homeland Security is included.
