Polymarket's Official Twitter Account Sparks Controversy with Frequent "Fake News" Posts, Jeff Bezos Personally Debunks

2026-01-23 01:54

BlockBeats News, January 23rd, the prediction market platform Polymarket faced widespread questioning from the crypto and media community due to the dissemination of false information on its official X account. Investor DCinvestor stated that they have unfollowed the Polymarket official account, not because of the product itself, but because of its frequent publication of a large amount of false information presented in the form of "breaking news," which seriously misleads users.

Journalist Rachel Karten also pointed out that the Polymarket official account "often publishes completely fabricated news," a phenomenon she finds "very strange."

One of the focal points of the controversy was a tweet labeled "JUST IN," where Polymarket claimed that Jeff Bezos suggested that Gen Z entrepreneurs should first work at real-world companies like McDonald's or Palantir before considering entrepreneurship. Subsequently, Jeff Bezos himself directly replied denying the claim, stating, "No. I'm not sure why Polymarket would fabricate this."

The above-mentioned event has raised concerns in the market regarding the credibility of Polymarket's information and content moderation mechanism. Against the backdrop of the ever-expanding influence of prediction markets, the official account's dissemination of false information is considered potentially misleading to user decision-making and market sentiment.
