View: The SEC has now become a full-fledged Republican stronghold, accelerating pro-crypto regulatory policy setting by 2026

2026-01-08 10:36

BlockBeats News, January 8th, as anti-crypto Democratic Commissioner Caroline Crenshaw leaves the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the SEC has now become a full Republican lineup. The Trump administration is unprecedentedly consolidating control over the executive branch, with the SEC expected to accelerate pro-crypto regulatory policy development with a full Republican SEC in 2026, and internal opposition has dissipated.

The current three sitting Republican Commissioners at the SEC are Chair Paul Atkins, Hester Peirce (aka "Crypto Mom"), and Mark Uyeda. There are currently two vacant seats, leading to the first instance where all sitting Commissioners are of a single party, described by U.S. economic policy experts as "unprecedented".
