《Crypto Market Structure Bill》 Legislative Update: Increased Bipartisan Support Probability, DeFi and Stablecoin Yield Issues Still Unresolved

BlockBeats News, January 7th, Crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett revealed the latest development of the Crypto Market Structure Bill, with the U.S. Senate Banking Committee officially scheduled to consider it on Thursday, January 15, 2026. Senators and their staff are racing against time to reach bipartisan consensus on outstanding issues.

This Tuesday, during a meeting at the office of Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott, the key topics of discussion included ethical standards for cryptocurrency-related public officials, stablecoin yield, bipartisan representation in cryptocurrency regulatory agencies, and several DeFi-specific provisions, with 13 cryptocurrency-friendly senators in attendance. While it is not clear how many issues were resolved during the lengthy three-hour meeting, both Republican and Democratic senators expressed optimism that the bill may receive bipartisan support.

As senators engage in internal negotiations, the crypto industry is intensifying its lobbying efforts this week to make its voice heard on remaining unresolved issues. On Thursday, the Chamber of Digital Commerce will hold a lobbying event on Capitol Hill, with over 40 members heading to the Senate for lobbying. The event will start at 10 a.m., with keynote speakers including White House Crypto Council Executive Director Patrick Wiet and Wyoming Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis. Representatives from companies such as Unicoin, Anchorage Digital, eToro, Coinflip, Input Output Group, Arca, Bitdeer, Binance.US, Crypto.com, VanEck, Hedera, Mara, and Helium are expected to participate in the event. Additionally, some industry leaders will also meet privately with senators this week to discuss some unresolved issues related to DeFi and stablecoin yields.
