BlockBeats News, January 6th, Arthur Hayes stated in his latest article "Suavemente" that the U.S.'s actions to control Venezuelan oil will ultimately lead to economic stimulus through "massive money printing" to suppress oil prices, resulting in a significant increase in the price of Bitcoin-led cryptocurrencies.
Hayes explained that the Trump administration, in order to win the 2026 midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election, must boost the economy (increase nominal GDP) and control inflation, especially gasoline prices. Controlling Venezuela's oil is to increase supply, lower oil prices to appease voters. At the same time, to stimulate the economy, the government will have to cooperate with the Fed to engage in large-scale deficit spending and credit expansion (i.e., "money printing").
In an ideal scenario, if successful in achieving "economic heat + low oil prices," the money printing press will run at full speed, and the oversupply of U.S. dollar liquidity will flow into various assets. As a "hard asset" against fiat devaluation and liquidity flooding, Bitcoin and major cryptocurrencies will be one of the biggest beneficiaries, causing prices to soar.
Hayes stated that he believes ZEC will become the beta of the privacy sector, and his family office Maelstrom has already taken a long position in a significant amount of ZEC at an excellent price in the third quarter of 2025. The Maelstrom team's focus is on the theme of privacy to find at least one shitcoin that can lead the trend and bring superior returns to its portfolio in the coming years.
Currently, Maelstrom has entered 2026 with almost maximum risk exposure. Although the team will continue to invest idle cash generated from various financing transactions into Bitcoin, the current holding of USD stablecoins is very low. To achieve excess returns relative to BTC and ETH, the team will sell BTC to fund the privacy position and sell ETH to fund the DeFi position. In both cases, if chosen correctly, with fiat credit expansion, the shitcoins they pick should outperform the market.
