Bitcoin Turns 17 Years Old

BlockBeats News, January 3rd, marks the 17th anniversary of the mining of the Bitcoin Genesis Block, Block #0, by Satoshi Nakamoto on a small server in Helsinki, Finland, on January 3, 2009.

In the Genesis Block's CoinBase data, Satoshi Nakamoto embedded the headline from The Times newspaper of that day: "The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks." There was only one transaction in the block, and the block reward was 50 bitcoins.
