Report: 2025 Crypto Billionaires Become One of the Biggest Losers

2026-01-01 07:56

BlockBeats News, January 1st, Bloomberg Billionaires Index shows that due to the "October Crypto Market Flash Crash" and other factors, many well-known figures in the crypto industry suffered heavy losses in 2025.

Strategy Chairman Michael Saylor's assets shrank by $2.6 billion in the past 12 months, with net worth dropping to $3.8 billion. Bloomberg noted that Strategy's Bitcoin treasury strategy brought substantial returns before Bitcoin hit a new high in early October, but the subsequent price drop caused Strategy's stock price to fall by over half from its peak, and Saylor's net worth also decreased by nearly $6 billion from the peak.

In addition, Gemini co-founders Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, as well as CZ, also suffered significant asset losses due to the sharp decline in the crypto market in October. Bloomberg stated that CZ's net worth has dropped by about 5% (about $50.9 billion) since January 1, 2025, while the Winklevoss brothers' assets shrank by 59% during the same period.

Nevertheless, Bloomberg also pointed out that in 2025, global billionaires added about $2.2 trillion in wealth, with 8 individuals contributing approximately 25% of the increment, but overall, crypto industry figures significantly lagged behind.

In contrast, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire's net worth has grown by about 149% since June 4th, benefiting from the U.S. passing the "GENIUS Act" related to stablecoin payments.
