BlockBeats News, January 1st, on-chain data analyst Murphy posted an analysis of the behavior of ETH ancient whales whose cost basis is below $400 in this cycle. The current average cost basis of ETH held for 5 to 7 years is $378. In 2024 to 2025, whenever the ETH price surpasses the key level of $4000, a large number of ancient chips will cash out profits. For example, in March 24, 5+ year-old chips realized a profit of $600 million in a single day, and in June, there was a massive exodus of profits reaching up to $1 billion. In September 25, those holding for 7+ years, and in October, those holding for 10+ years, both cashed out profits of over $500 million in a single day. After ancient chips take profits, ETH invariably experiences a phased top.
Since May 24, when ETH treasury companies began massive purchases, the supply of ETH held for over 5 years has gradually decreased, but ETH ancient whales still hold 20.1 million tokens from 2010.
