Federal Reserve Chair Candidate Not Necessarily an Either/Or Situation? Warlick to Accept Interview

2025-12-16 20:03

BlockBeats News, December 17th: According to the WSJ report, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Trump will interview current Federal Reserve Board Governor Waller on Wednesday local time regarding the Fed Chair candidacy. Trump interviewed former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh last week. Trump stated that Warsh and Hassett are currently his two favorite candidates. Waller has emerged as a key voice within the Fed advocating for rate cuts this year. At the Fed meeting in July where rates were held steady, Waller dissented and favored a rate cut.

Waller is a favored candidate for Fed Chair among economists, well-regarded on Wall Street for his logically clear and consistent arguments in support of rate cuts this year, seen as capable of bridging the Fed's growing internal divisions. Several of his arguments for rate cuts have been adopted by current Chair Powell. Waller is scheduled to speak on the economic outlook on Wednesday night Beijing time. (FX168)
