False Cryptocurrency Investment Scheme HyperFund Founder "Bitcoin Rodney" Charged with 11 Counts, Facing Decades in Prison

According to The Block, Rodney Burton, the founder of the fraudulent cryptocurrency investment project HyperFund (also known as HyperVerse) and known as "Bitcoin Rodney," is now facing 11 U.S. federal charges. These charges include conspiracy to commit wire fraud, seven counts of money laundering, and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business. Burton is accused of promoting the HyperFund project from June 2020 to May 2024 and using investor funds to purchase luxury apartments, sports cars, yachts, and other luxury items. Co-defendant Brenda Chunga has pleaded guilty in the case, while co-founder Sam Lee remains at large. If convicted, Burton could face decades in prison.
