According to PolyBeats monitoring, the previously mentioned insider-locked "AI" turned out to be Time magazine's Person of the Year. In the early hours of today, solid evidence emerged: an image from Time magazine's official website revealed that the cover for "Person of the Year" featured half of the letters "AI" and the other half showcased Musk and many others who have contributed to AI, with the label "The Architects of AI" at the top right corner of the cover.
However, shortly after this cover leak, all insiders' gains turned into huge losses. Within less than 20 minutes after the leak of the cover image, Polymarket urgently added the option "The Architects of AI / Other" and stated that if the cover featured "The Architects of AI," the original "AI" option would not be considered a winning condition. As a result, the AI option, which had been comfortably leading since its creation, plummeted to 1%, while the newly added "The Architects of AI / Other" option had a probability of 97%.
A similar dramatic scenario unfolded on another prediction market platform, Kalshi: the AI option on the platform dropped from over 50% to 9%, while the probabilities of AMD CEO Lisa Su and Google DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis, who appeared in the leaked cover image, surged from 2% to over 90% in an instant.
Currently, traders hold divergent views on the platform's new rules. Some traders believe it was an immediate measure taken by the platform to avoid ambiguity and combat insiders, thereby upholding market fairness. However, the other half sees the platform's last-minute rule update as extremely unfair to users holding the original AI option.
