Cosigning: Zcash does not enforce privacy by default; its design strikes more of a balance leaning towards auditable privacy.

BlockBeats News, December 10, SlowMist founder GoesByTheNameOf Yu published a post evaluating "Arkham on Zcash (ZEC): More Than Half of the Transactions Are De-anonymized." A high proportion of Zcash transactions can be traced, which is nothing new. In the previous cycle when privacy coins were hot, Zcash was like this. It is not privacy by default but opt-in. For example, addresses starting with z are for strong privacy, while those starting with t are transparent and traceable addresses. This design makes Zcash more acceptable to regulation compared to privacy coins like Monero (XMR), which has default strong privacy.

Currently, Zcash addresses on mainstream platforms almost all start with t, indicating that the community truly concerned about privacy is very, very small. Catering to regulation is the way out for platforms. Compared to the hardcore privacy of Monero, Zcash has a better balance in its privacy design, and its path may be broader.
