Solana Network Sees Significant Drop in Active Validators, Sparking Community Debate

BlockBeats News, December 9th, according to CriptoNoticias, since March 2023, Solana's active validators have decreased from over 2500 to about 800, a decrease of over 68%.

Regarding this phenomenon, the community's opinion is divided: some believe that "Sybil node purging" contributes to network health, while others (including some infrastructure teams) state that recent retirees are mostly genuine operators who chose to exit due to economic and operational costs. The actual impact on decentralization depends on the number of surviving independent validators and the distribution of staking/voting power.
