Robinhood CEO: Tokenized Securities Lending on the Blockchain Has Promising Market Potential

BlockBeats News, November 24th, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev stated on the a16z podcast that the securities lending market is a huge source of revenue for brokers and counterparties, but its operation is highly opaque and inefficient. A large amount of trading still goes through chat tools in the Bloomberg terminal, using peer-to-peer matching.

If these assets were tokenized, a liquidity pool could be formed, making the whole process extremely simple. Imagine being able to directly lend or borrow stocks using a protocol like Aave, the entire process would be much more efficient and user-friendly for end users compared to the current cumbersome system that has evolved over decades.
