BlockBeats News, October 14th, Binance and its users had donated $200,000 worth of cryptocurrency to a Maltese charity that provides assistance to terminally ill patients in 2018. However, this donation has still not been utilized to this day, and now, due to the price surge, it is worth approximately $37 million.
This funding came from a 2018 Binance Charity charity event and has since remained unused in the receiving wallet. The donation consisted of 30,644 BNB, valued at approximately $200,000 at the time. At the current price, the same amount of BNB is now worth nearly $37 million.
In 2021, Binance stated: "With the rise in the prices of these crypto assets, this fund can now help more people in need." However, Binance's relationship with the Malta Community Chest Fund (MCCF) has been strained. In 2021, the MCCF threatened to sue Binance for not submitting the accounts for 2018, 2019, and 2020 and repeatedly ignoring annual declaration reminders.
However, a few days later, these accounts were "found," and the lawsuit threat was withdrawn. According to the Malta Times, since 2021, Binance has been waiting for the MCCF to verify patient information, including medical bills and cryptocurrency wallet addresses. Still, the MCCF has refused to provide this patient data to Binance, resulting in a stalemate in the fund transfer.
