The SEC Clarifies That Certain PoS Staking Activities Do Not Constitute Securities Trading

BlockBeats News, May 30, According to cryptocurrency reporter Eleanor Terrett, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Corporation Finance clarified that staking activities on certain Proof-of-Stake blockchains do not constitute securities transactions.

This new guidance follows the March guidance on Proof-of-Work mining activities and covers self-staking, staking-as-a-service, as well as additional services such as slashing protection and custom rewards.

SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce stated: "Providing security is not, in and of itself, a security."
