Musk's "Starship Base" Becomes a New Town, First Mayor is SpaceX Employee

BlockBeats News, May 4th, Musk's idea of establishing a "Starbase" city has become a reality. Reports indicate that an election also selected the inaugural mayor of the "Starbase" city, Bobby Pedden, along with two city commissioners, Jordan Buss and Jenna Petrzelka. All three are SpaceX employees and faced no competitors during the election process.

SpaceX's rocket manufacturing and launch facility is located in Boca Chica, southern Texas, covering only 3.9 square kilometers and near the U.S.-Mexico border. Musk initially proposed the idea of establishing a town here in 2021.

Previously, when SpaceX conducted rocket tests, launches, or operated certain equipment, they had to request the closure of a nearby road leading to a state park and beach, prohibiting unrelated personnel from entering the area. These matters were handled by the local Cameron County. The Texas legislature is currently considering passing relevant legislation to hand over these matters to the newly established local government after the "Starbase" city is built.
