US and Japanese Officials Agree to Commence Working-Level Consultations

BlockBeats News, May 3rd, the U.S. Department of the Treasury stated on Friday local time that senior officials from the United States and Japan have agreed to immediately begin working-level consultations based on the current discussions and hold more ministerial-level meetings in the near future.


The statement noted that U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen, U.S. Commerce Secretary Raimondo, and U.S. Trade Representative Tai met with Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Kajiyama on Thursday local time. The two sides had frank and constructive discussions on fair and reciprocal trade.


During the meeting, Yellen emphasized to Kajiyama the importance of tariffs and non-tariff measures, economic security as a national security issue, and other key concerns. (FXStreet)
