BlockBeats News, March 28th, according to Sei Foundation's official X account, Sei is considering acquiring the bankrupt gene testing company 23andMe, planning to put its over 15 million users' genetic data on the blockchain, and endowing users with ownership and control of their own genetic data. Sei stated that genetic data security has become a national security issue, and 23andMe is currently facing serious financial difficulties, having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week. Several state attorneys general have advised users to consider deleting their personal data on the platform. If this acquisition moves forward, Sei will safeguard privacy through a blockchain encryption mechanism, allowing users to decide autonomously whether and how to authorize the use and commercialization of their data. Sei called this its "most aggressive decentralized science (DeSci) project."
