BlockBeats News, March 17th. According to Bitcoin.com, Marla Maples, the second wife of Trump, took to social media on Sunday to call on Trump and his team to drop the lawsuit against "Bitcoin Jesus" Roger Ver. A video highlighting Roger Ver's charitable activities has been widely circulated online, prompting Trump's ex-wife Marla Maples to share the video with her 61,500 followers on the X platform on Sunday, stating, "Share more content calling for the withdrawal of the lawsuit against Roger Ver." In her repost, she tagged US Attorney General Pam Bondi, White House Legal Advisor Dave Warrington, Elon Musk, and President Trump's @realDonaldTrump X account. In May of last year, Roger Ver was arrested in Spain and faces US charges of email fraud, tax evasion, and filing false tax returns. He is known online as "Bitcoin Jesus," an early adopter of Bitcoin, and the former CEO of the digital wallet developer Bitcoin.com.
BlockBeats previously reported that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin had commented on this, stating, "It is ridiculous that Roger Ver has been sentenced to life in prison for nonviolent tax crimes." Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the dark web Silk Road who was pardoned by Trump, also voiced his support, saying, "Roger Ver helped me in my time of need, and now he needs our support. No one should be sentenced to life in prison for tax issues. Let him pay his taxes (if any), and close this matter."
However, Musk seems to hold a different opinion. In a social media reply on January 26th regarding the discussion of "When will Roger Ver be pardoned," Musk stated, "Roger Ver renounced his US citizenship, making him ineligible for a pardon."
