Analysis: Trump Unlikely to Follow Through on All Tariff Threats

BlockBeats News, March 6th. In a research report, Nomura analysts stated that Trump is unlikely to follow through on all tariff threats. Following a one-month delay on auto tariffs for Canada and Mexico, there are signs that Trump may abandon the 25% tariffs on these two countries.

As Trump uses some of his tariffs as a negotiating tool, conflicts may fluctuate between escalation and de-escalation. However, Trump's behavior in his first term indicated that he was willing to escalate trade conflicts regardless of market weakness and volatility. Trump's actions so far have made Nomura Securities skeptical of a rapid easing of the situation. (FX678)
