BlockBeats News, January 28th, Ethereum Layer 2 network Taiko has successfully held its first online hackathon and partnered with DoraHacks to launch the largest-ever anonymous community vote. The number of participants in this vote exceeded 920,000, making it the largest on-chain vote using MACI technology in the Ethereum community.
Taiko's Grant Factory hackathon encouraged developers to brainstorm and design innovative solutions, interesting applications, or projects with a positive social impact. After months of effort, the finalists have submitted their final votes, marking a significant step towards more community-driven decision-making.
Minimal Anti-Collusion Infrastructure (MACI), initially proposed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, is a voting mechanism that applies zero-knowledge proofs to provide privacy protection and anti-collusion for the community. Focusing on flaws in traditional voting systems such as fraud, collusion, and lack of privacy, a method to address these issues on-chain was proposed.
MACI uses zero-knowledge technology to ensure that votes remain encrypted, maintain the integrity of the vote, and prevent vote-buying or coercion. In a MACI voting round, there are two roles: the operator and the user. Users submit encrypted votes on-chain to the MACI smart contract. All votes have on-chain timestamps, and only the operator can view the vote contents, with the results being published by the operator after the vote ends.
