BlockBeats News, December 30th, The Block Pro funding data shows that VCs invested around $13.7 billion in cryptocurrency and blockchain startups in 2024, a 28% increase from the $10.7 billion in 2023. However, the funding is still far below the peak of $33.3 billion in 2022 and $29 billion in 2021.
In 2024, early-stage funding dominated, with Pre-Seed round transactions hitting a record high of over 1,180 deals (a 68% increase year-on-year), highlighting strong interest in new projects. Despite an overall decrease in inflows, seed round financing reached $3.4 billion, close to the $3.8 billion in 2021. Series A funding saw over 175 transactions (a 59% increase), raising $2.8 billion (a 46% increase). Meanwhile, mid-to-late-stage funding decreased, paving the way for mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Overall, top cryptocurrency venture capital firms are cautiously optimistic about 2025. While funding levels are not expected to return to the highs of 2021-2022, industry insiders unanimously believe that startups with strong product-market fit and high user adoption are most likely to receive funding in the coming year.
