Court Extends Pre-Trial Detention for Tornado Cash Developer Alexey Pertsev

BlockBeats News, November 24th, Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev will remain in custody during the trial. Pertsev recently posted on X expressing disappointment in the court's decision to extend his detention, believing it hinders his ability to prepare his appeal.

Prior to this, several Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives requested Treasury Department officials to provide answers regarding the handling of the cryptocurrency mixer service Tornado Cash, which was sanctioned in 2022 but is still operational. The lawmakers emphasized that this year the mixer's usage has seen a "revival," with $1.8 billion in deposits in the first half of 2024, a 45% increase from the full year of 2023. (Cointelegraph)
