BlockBeats News, November 13th, Linea, the Ethereum zkEVM L2 Rollup developed by Consensys, announced the establishment of the Linea Association to drive Linea governance.
The Linea Association is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, aimed at promoting Linea's growth and governance. The association was officially announced on November 13th at the Devcon conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
The newly formed association will have three main goals: to support Linea technology, develop the Linea market, and further advance Linea's decentralized roadmap, said Linea Product Lead Declan Fox.
Consensys founder and Ethereum contributor Joseph Lubin believes that the Linea Association is an important step for the network to achieve true decentralization, avoiding excessive control by any governance entity.
The Linea Association will oversee the development and governance of Linea's open-source technology and ecosystem, and drive the growth of the Consensys-backed zkEVM Layer 1 mainnet Linea to scale Ethereum while maintaining its security and decentralization.
One core feature of the Linea Association's operation is token holder governance, which means Linea tokens will be issued in Q1 2025.
According to the plan, the Linea Association will empower token holders with governance rights, allowing them to participate in certain activities of the association. The association will be responsible for managing core Linea intellectual property and treasury to support its mission. (Cointelegraph)
