Harris wins California, securing 54 electoral votes

BlockBeats News, November 6th, Harris won California, winning the biggest prize in the presidential election—54 electoral votes.

Harris, a former U.S. Senator and Attorney General, hails from a state with a strong Democratic presence, so the election result was as expected. Since 1988, no Republican candidate has won the presidential election in the most populous state in the U.S., and since 2000, the Republican Party has not seriously competed in the presidential election in California.

In California, the number of registered Democrats is about twice the number of Republicans. The party holds all state-level offices and dominates the legislature and congressional delegation. The Associated Press declared Harris the winner at 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
