U.S. jobless claims fell last week, easing concerns about worsening job market

BlockBeats news, September 5, as layoffs remain low, the number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell last week, which may help ease concerns that the labor market is deteriorating. The U.S. Department of Labor said on Thursday that initial claims fell by 5,000 last week to a seasonally adjusted 227,000, below market expectations. As seasonal distortions from the auto industry and Hurricane Beryl fade, the number of applicants has been hovering around 230,000 since falling from an 11-month high in late July. Although job vacancies in July fell to the lowest level in 3 and a half years, there is still no sign of a deterioration in the labor market. (Jinshi)
