BlockBeats reported that on August 19, Web3 investor Balaji announced that he would establish an innovative university called "The Network School" in Singapore. The university will be located on an island near Singapore and is committed to providing development opportunities for "Dark Talent" (young talents who are on the margins and not noticed by the mainstream world) from all over the world. It is reported that Balaji is a Stanford PhD, former Coinbase CTO and A16z partner, and a top angel investor in the Web3 field. He said that The Network School will focus on four core directions: "Learn, Burn, Earn and Fun":
In terms of learning, the school will provide mini courses and encrypted vouchers to allow students to learn to solve practical problems at any time and accumulate digital resumes;
In terms of fitness, the school will work with biotech entrepreneurs to provide students with professional diet and exercise programs to tap into their personal genetic potential;
In terms of making money, the school will provide cryptocurrency rewards to support students to participate in open source projects and AI content creation, and provide career development guidance;
In terms of entertainment, the school will create a community of like-minded "tech capitalists" and provide a wealth of outdoor entertainment activities.
Balaji said that he hopes the university will become a true "Stanford 2.0". The school's first three-month semester will be held from September 23 to December 23 this year. Enrollment requires payment of rent. The monthly rent is US$1,000 (shared by 2 people) and US$2,000 (rented alone), and students can also apply for short-term rentals. The rent includes an air-conditioned room located on a beautiful island, equipped with internet, gym, and access to all courses and community services.
