Analyst: Investors should not expect regulatory approval for XRP spot ETFs "soon".
According to a report by Cointelegraph on January 24th, despite the fact that exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuers may be considering launching a spot XRP ETF, analysts say that investors should not expect regulatory agencies to approve it "soon".
Analysts told Cointelegraph that the chances of a spot XRP ETF being approved will be severely damaged due to the ongoing litigation against Ripple by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the lack of approved XRP futures ETF products.
Townsend Lansing, the product head of CoinShares, explained that an XRP ETF will not be feasible unless the SEC is forced or agrees to abandon its position that XRP is a security.
Scott Johnsson, a partner at Van Buren Capital, also said that he believes the likelihood is "very small" and may require a new leadership at the SEC. CoinShares research analyst Max Shannon and others pointed out that it took more than a decade to approve a spot Bitcoin ETF.
