X (formerly known as Twitter) has cancelled the NFT avatar feature for paid subscription users.

BlockBeats reported on January 10th that X (formerly Twitter) led by Elon Musk released its grand vision for 2024 on Tuesday, including launching peer-to-peer payments and more AI-driven tools. During this process, the company quietly withdrew the feature for paid subscribers to set NFTs as their profile avatars. This feature was originally launched in January 2022 by Twitter's former management, allowing Twitter Blue subscribers to set NFTs (ERC-721 or ERC-1155 tokens) minted on Ethereum as their profile pictures displayed in hexagons. Users could click/tap on the profile picture to learn more about the NFT, including the collection, contract address, TokenID, and minting application. Now, X has removed all descriptions of the NFT profile picture feature from its X Premium support page. The previous description of the feature stated: "As a Premium subscriber, you can customize your profile, showcase the NFTs you own, and display them as hexagonal profile pictures on your account." Users who still have NFTs set as their profile pictures currently retain the hexagonal shape, but it is unclear whether X will eventually remove these avatars.
