KyberSwap has announced a compensation plan, which will provide compensation to users affected by the Elastic vulnerability starting from February 2024.
BlockBeats reported on December 27th that KyberSwap has implemented a special compensation plan for users affected by the KyberSwap Elastic vulnerability. The plan aims to support users who lost assets in the vulnerability attack. According to the announcement, affected users will be divided into five categories based on their losses:
1. Major vulnerability attack (Category 1): The major KyberSwap Elastic Exploit that occurred on the evening of November 22, 2023, which stole assets from the liquidity pool with a market value of approximately $48.83 million.
2. First batch of robot activities imitating vulnerability attacks (Category 2): Losses caused by the activities of two robots that imitated the attack after the major vulnerability attack, with a market value of approximately $170,000.
3. Second batch of robot activities imitating vulnerability attacks (Category 3): Losses and subsequently recovered assets caused by the activities of two additional front-end robots that imitated the major vulnerability attack, with a market value of approximately $6.4 million.
4. Assets locked due to vulnerability attacks (Category 4): Assets that cannot be withdrawn due to an incorrect pool state caused by the vulnerability attack, with a market value of approximately $24,000.
5. Assets recovered after the vulnerability attack (Category 5): Assets recovered from the liquidity pool after the vulnerability attack, with a market value of approximately $706,000.
KyberSwap offers three compensation options for affected users in these categories:
Option A: Equivalent to 60% of the reference value of the lost assets of the affected address in USD stablecoins, paid in three monthly installments.
Option B: Equivalent to 100% of the reference value of the lost assets of the affected address in USD stablecoins, paid in twelve monthly installments.
Option C: Choose to opt-out of the compensation plan.
This plan is designed to support users who lost assets in categories 1, 2, and 4, as the assets in these categories have not yet been recovered. Eligible affected users in these categories need to complete a certain KYC process to ensure compliance with the funding terms. The compensation plan will begin on February 1, 2024, and will pay users in USD stablecoins on a linear basis.
In addition, KyberSwap is still processing the affected assets in categories 3 and 5, some of which have already been recovered. These recovered assets will be returned to each affected address.
