Messari: Market can absorb most of FTX's sell-off of high-liquidity assets such as BTC.
BlockBeats reported on September 12th that Messari, a cryptocurrency research institution, stated in a report that FTX's liquid cryptocurrency assets held by its liquidator amount to approximately $1.3 billion (excluding stablecoins). The figures are not the absolute value of the tokens held, but rather their relative active trading volume for each asset. For example, FTX/Alameda's BTC holdings ($353 million) account for about 1% of BTC's weekly trading volume, meaning that the market can absorb most of the selling pressure, and ETH is the same.
However, for assets with lower liquidity such as DOGE, TRX, and MATIC, FTX's holdings account for 6-12% of their weekly trading volume, which may have a greater impact on the market.
Although SOL and APT have significant dollar value and relative market capacity impact, these assets are held by Alameda and venture capitalists, mainly consisting of unlock tokens that are not immediately available for trading on the public market. Only $9.2 million worth of SOL will be unlocked each month, significantly reducing the impact of liquidation and making it more manageable, similar to BTC and ETH liquidation.
