The US House Committee will revisit the discussion on digital dollar during the hearing on September 14th.
According to a statement reported by Cointelegraph on September 8th, the US House Financial Services Committee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusive Finance will hold a "Digital Dollar Dilemma" hearing on September 14th to discuss the issuance of CBDCs and the impact of "private sector alternatives". The US Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Gary Gensler will testify before the full committee about two weeks later. This hearing will be the first time in months that the House committee has discussed the introduction of a digital dollar in the US, as Congress had been in recess in August.
In addition, some US legislators have proposed different methods to address issues related to CBDCs, including limiting the power of the Federal Reserve to issue digital dollars. Several states in the US, including Florida, have also passed bills banning the use of CBDCs as a payment option.
