Bitcoin volatility index fell to 40.53 yesterday, with a daily decline of 8.82%.
BlockBeats reported on August 11th that the BitVol (Bitcoin Volatility) index, launched by financial index company T3 Index in collaboration with Bitcoin options trading platform LedgerX, fell to 40.53 on August 10th, a decrease of 8.82% compared to August 9th.
Note: The BitVol index measures the 30-day expected implied volatility derived from tradable Bitcoin options prices. Implied volatility refers to the volatility implied by the actual option price. It is calculated using the B-S option pricing formula, with the actual option price and other parameters except for the volatility σ plugged into the formula to derive the volatility.
The actual price of an option is formed by the competition of numerous option traders, hence implied volatility represents the market participants' views and expectations of the market's future, and is therefore considered the closest approximation to the true volatility at the time.
