Court: Lending Bitcoin to others comes with the risk of not getting it back.
BlockBeats news, August 7th. According to a report by Lizhi News, recently, Xu loaned 341 bitcoins to Lin in Jiangsu province and sued him to the court for not returning the bitcoins. The court ruled that bitcoins are a specific virtual commodity and do not have the legal status equivalent to currency, nor do they have the monetary attributes of legal compensation and enforceability. Therefore, they cannot and should not be used as currency in the market.
The judge stated that the transaction behavior of borrowing bitcoins between the parties in this case is currently not protected by law. In addition, bitcoins do not have the characteristics of fungible goods and are not quantifiable using legal currency in this case. Ultimately, the court dismissed the lawsuit.
