Celestia testnet launches Oolong upgrade, potentially a candidate version for mainnet release.
BlockBeats news, on July 6th, modular blockchain Celestia launched the Oolong upgrade on its testnet, which is the latest upgrade to the Arabica Devnet and Mocha Testnet. This upgrade serves as a candidate version for the mainnet release. If everything goes smoothly, the mainnet may adopt Oolong.
The new features of this upgrade include increasing the available space for blob data in blocks, increasing the size of namespace IDs from 8 bytes to 29 bytes, and limiting block sizes. In addition, on-chain governance for all parameters has been removed, except for some specific parameters such as block size. Any changes outside of these specific parameters now require a hard fork.
