The Chair of the US House Financial Services Committee is planning to introduce legislation to establish a trading platform registered with the SEC, and has written to Gensler and Yellen to seek feedback.
BlockBeats news reported on June 27th that Maxine Waters, Chair of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, has proposed to regulatory agencies to ensure that a cryptocurrency-focused bill will provide a pathway for digital asset trading platforms in the United States to be registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Maxine Waters has written to SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, asking him to describe how the proposed digital asset market structure will impact the SEC's "mission and ability to protect investors" and "maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets".
Maxine Waters also wrote to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, asking her to explain the impact of the bill on the Treasury Department's "mission to promote economic prosperity" and "ensure financial stability in the United States."
