Bitcoin volatility index has been on a downward trend for nearly a month, and has fallen to the low levels seen in February of this year.
BlockBeats reported on May 22nd that the BitVol (Bitcoin Volatility) index, launched by financial index company T3 Index in partnership with Bitcoin options trading platform LedgerX, has maintained a downward trend in the past month and fell to 52.88 yesterday, hitting a low level since February this year, with a 0.74% rebound from the previous day.
Note: The BitVol index measures the 30-day expected implied volatility derived from tradable Bitcoin option prices. Implied volatility refers to the volatility implied by actual option prices. It is calculated using the B-S option pricing formula, which takes the actual option price and other parameters besides volatility σ as inputs to calculate the implied volatility.
The actual price of an option is determined by competition among many option traders. Therefore, implied volatility represents market participants' views and expectations of the market's future, and is considered the closest approximation of the actual volatility at the time.
