Solana CEO: In-chain voting causes Internet outages Based on 'pure ignorance'
BlockBeats news, February 28, in response to Solana's February 25 network outage, Twitter user DBCryptoX said that a large number of verifier messages and on-chain voting are clogging up the network. Anatoly Yakovenko, founder and CEO of Solana Labs, dismissed the comments as "pure ignorance" and noted that the vote was in favor of providing features such as "excellent security, high throughput and low cost." However, Yakovenko does not completely reject the user's conclusion that "90-95% of transactions on Solana contain these validator messages and on-chain votes, which easily bog down the system."
In addition, DBCryptoX claims that Solana network outages last nearly 20 hours because it takes longer for validators to talk and reach a consensus or solution using an off-chain method, such as a messaging system like Discord. Alex Kroeger, Phantom software engineer at Solana Eco Wallet, said that there may not be a single reason for the network outage, and that PoS verifiers require a lot of network traffic to implement the verification.
As previously reported by BlockBeats, the Solana Foundation said that the root cause of the mainnet outage that occurred on February 25 is not yet clear and is under active investigation.
