Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission: May allow individuals to trade bitcoin and Ethereum on SFC approved trading platforms
BlockBeats news: On February 20, the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong said in a consultation document that it would allow individual investors to trade large-cap tokens on trading platforms licensed by the Commission, provided safeguards such as knowledge testing, risk tolerance assessment and reasonable risk exposure limits are in place.
The consultation period for the document ends on March 31, with the goal of allowing retail trading under a new licensing system for cryptocurrency trading platforms on June 1. Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two largest digital assets by market value, are likely to be listed on trading platforms in Hong Kong, a CSRC spokesman said in a briefing. (Bloomberg)
