Jack Dorsey: Social media should be free and open agreement to open new funding category 'Open Internet Development'
BlockBeats: On December 14, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey posted a summary of the three principles that social media should follow: 1. Social media must be resilient to corporate and government control; 2. Only original authors can delete their content; 3. Auditing is best achieved through algorithmic selection. Twitter does not meet these principles, and the only way to truly adhere to these 3 principles is to have a free and open agreement for social media that is not owned by one company or group of companies and is flexible to corporate and government influence.
Jack Dorsey said that in order to accelerate work on Open Internet and Protocol, a new funding category, Open Internet Development, would be created. The focus is on funding engineering teams working on social media and private communication protocols, Bitcoin and web-only mobile operating systems. The grants will begin next week, starting with $1 million a year for Signal.
