Amber will be profitable product Amber Fin independent, mainland office has been renounced
According to BlockBeats, Amber laid off about 80 employees in November after the layoffs were completed in September. Some Amber employees have prepared documents to Sue Amber because they could not receive the redundancy compensation as part of the compensation agreement.
In response to this, Amber said that Amber has encountered the problem of foreign exchange settlement quota at the end of the year, and the company is actively raising funds, disposing of some waste fixed assets and equipment and actively recovering the office rental deposit.
A source familiar with the matter told BlockBeats that there are only about 800 people left at Amber and layoffs are continuing. The office space in mainland China is ready to surrender the lease, employees have been asked to work from home, and the access control has been cancelled.
Another source told BlockBeats that Amber is separating its most profitable in-house product, Amber Fin, from its loss-making Whale Fin. Meanwhile, due to FTX events, Amber could not withdraw a large amount of funds on FTX platform, with a capital scale of more than $60 million.
Amber tried unsuccessfully to raise money at a $10bn valuation in the second half of the year, another person familiar with the matter said. An attempt to raise $100 million at a $3 billion valuation didn't get done.
BlockBeats asked Amber about the company's operations and she said everything was fine.
