Sunak, Britain's new prime minister, proposed in April to make Britain a crypto-friendly technology hub
According to BlockBeats, on October 24, the new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak proposed in April to make the UK a crypto-friendly technology hub.
The former Goldman Sachs analyst repeatedly stated his openness to the possibility of digital assets when he was chancellor of the exchequer between February 2020 and July 2022. In April, he proposed making the UK a crypto-friendly technology hub and plans to launch an official UK NFTS. He also pushed for stablecoins to be regulated and for cryptocurrencies to be accepted as a form of payment.
Sunak met with Sequoia managing partner Douglas Leone earlier this year to "discuss the U.K. venture capital sector," according to minutes of the finance ministers' meeting posted on the U.K. government's website. Previous disclosures also revealed that Sunak visited California late last year to meet with representatives of Sequoia and a16z and participated in a roundtable with companies including Bitwise, Celo, Solana, and Iqoniq.
