Eu: Digital Euro will only be used for personal payment in the initial stage, and Web3 support may be considered later
According to BlockBeats, on September 7th, Evelien Witlox, head of the European Central Bank's Digital Euro Project, said at an event hosted by the European Economic and Social Committee, according to Coindesk: "In the first phase, the digital euro will only support human-initiated payments (C2C, C2B) and will not be allowed to be used by businesses to settle invoices, pay salaries or decentralise finance."
Evelien Witlox adds: "Other potential uses of CBDCS - including payroll payments, settlement between firms, automated machine-initiated payments and functions to support decentralised finance - can still be considered in later development."
