The Cardano development team open source Mithril, a POS-based data synchronization solution

Mithril, a POS-based data synchronization solution designed to improve the speed and efficiency of data synchronization between nodes, has been opened by the Cardano development team Input Output. This is done by leveraging existing networks to provide authenticated snapshots of all or part of the blockchain state. Mithril will run on the Cardano main network, where participants jointly sign the current blockchain state, contributing a proportion proportional to the amount pledged. After that, all signatures will be aggregated into multiple signatures, but will be considered valid only when the total amount pledged by signers reaches a threshold.
