NSA to Introduce Top-Secret New Anthropic Model, White House Special Authorization for $9 Billion Budget to Overcome Compute Power Shortage

According to Datanalysis Beating monitoring, the White House has secretly approved a $9 billion classified budget request proposed by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the purchase of Nvidia's flagship Grace Blackwell chip to build a national security-level AI hardware infrastructure. Due to past budget constraints and the high security requirements of a classified cloud network physically isolated from the public internet, intelligence agencies have significantly lagged behind in the construction of their classified computing infrastructure. The White House has granted special approval for this substantial budget and has allowed a reallocation of $800 million to address the hardware shortage crisis, ensuring smooth operation of the latest large-scale models in the future.

To address the current computing power bottleneck and software gap, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles has authorized the NSA to bypass Pentagon's supply chain restrictions to continue purchasing the latest model, Mythos, developed by the large-model manufacturer Anthropic. Mythos completed training in April 2026 and boasts strong advanced network security capabilities, capable of identifying and weaponizing vulnerabilities, hence it is restricted from public release. Due to Mythos' high operational efficiency and compatibility with the previous generation of chips, this procurement allows intelligence agencies to directly deploy it on existing classified servers, bypassing the time delay of constructing new chip facilities, and gaining quick access to much-needed top-tier network security capabilities.

The NSA is currently in negotiations with Anthropic to finalize a new contract. The two parties were previously deadlocked due to authorization issues. The Department of Defense had requested the manufacturer to sign a mandatory agreement stating that the product is "military available for any lawful purpose," which led to a halt in cooperation. Considering that intelligence agencies are legally restricted from monitoring domestic citizens, the new contract is expected to remove the "for any lawful purpose" clause and instead implement a dedicated disclaimer restriction to ensure that Mythos is never used to analyze or monitor data of American citizens. The intelligence community hopes that the new contract will serve as a template, driving future confidential computing collaborations similar to those with OpenAI.
